If you are struggling to keep your make-up from lasting because of the unbearable heat, then a setting spray is your best option.
Basically a setting spray helps revive your skin before you apply make-up as well ensuring that your makeup lasts the entire day despite the high temperatures.
One of the best setting sprays is,
-Mac's Prep and Prime Fix, also know as Fix Plus.
It retails for about $21 (R235.00). A quick spray before you apply your make-up as well as after you have applied your make-up will ensure that your make-up is long lasting.
Although this is an excellent product not everyone can afford this. I decided to do some research on a few dupes for this product ans found the following:
- Elf Make-up Mist, which is only $3.
If you are attending an event or function then I suggest saving up for the Fix plus. The Elf mist gives off a flaky look on your eye make-up and can dry out your skin however, if you are looking for an everyday spray then this is a good option as it is more affordable.
- Doesn't have a smell
- Smudges your eye make-up
- Can make you look flaky
- NYX Cosmetics Setting Spray, is only $8.
Unlike the above mentioned products, the Nyx Setting Spray is more a spray than a mist which is not the most pleasant feelings. It works best during winter as it gives off a dewy finish.
- Travel friendly
- More of a spray than a mist
-Avon Make-up Setting Spray, retails at $10 (R149.95)
This is definitely the most accessible product in South Africa in terms of a dupe. It can be purchased at a cheaper rate depending on the Avon specials during certain months. I am currently using this product everyday and it really makes a difference. The spray has a cooling affect which helps rejuvenate your face before applying make-up.
- Travel friendly
- Mist effect rather than a spray
- Not as long lasting as the Fix plus
Overall, these dupes are excellent in terms of everyday use but if you are looking for a product to help set heavy make-up or make-up for an important event, then I suggest you save for the Fix plus. If you want to know how to make your own setting spray at home then let me know and I will gladly share a quick DIY option.
