Beauty Tip 101: How To Pick The Right Foundation

There are different types of foundations available these days.  Your foundation types range from dewy to velvety to matte. Sadly the prices of foundations have also increased along with the range of foundation constantly increasing.

Today I will inform you about 3 different foundation looks that I have come across in the Edgars Club Magazine/online as well as those which have been the most commonly used. I will also share the names of  foundations you can purchase if you want the desired look.

The first type is a soft and satiny look.
This is where you need to pick a foundation that contains light-reflecting ingredients to achieve that youthful dewy finish. These foundations usually contain the words ‘luminous’ or ‘moisturising’ on their product label. Products that could be used for this look are, Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 (R495.00); BlackUp Full Coverage Cream Foundation (R480.00); Clarins True Radiance Perfect Skin Foundation (R415.00)

The second type is the ‘no makeup’ makeup look.
This makeup look is all the rage right now, especially on YouTube.
This is where you pick a foundation that offers a light coverage and gives off the impression that you are wearing no makeup and naturally have a flawless finish to your face. BB Creams and CC creams are generally the best for this look. My favourite BB cream at the moment is the Maybelline BB Cream (I already did a full review on this product which you can view, here). However, if you want your makeup to last longer than a foundation is better for the job. You can try products such as; Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth Infusing Makeup SPF 15 (R585.00); Calvin Klein One 3-in-1 Face Makeup SPF 15 (R405.00); Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Air-whipped Foundation (R169.95)

The third type is the matte look.
This is perfect for people with oily complexions. This is where you pick a foundation that contains mattifying ingredients which help to absorb any excess oil on your skin. It is more effective if you apply a primer onto your skin before you apply any makeup because the primer will absorb any excess oil on your skin and won’t make your foundation look too cakey.  Products that give off the matte look are, Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin 24HR (R365.00); Mac Face and Body Foundation (R330); Black Opal Even True Flawless Skin Liquid Makeup (R215.00); Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation (R119.95); L’Oreal Infallible (R190.00)

I hope this has helped you in finding out what foundations are available for the finish you are looking for. Please feel free to let me know in the comments below which foundation you love, xx.
